The Toba Super Volcano has erupted!

It is 74 000 BC and Questa, Anja and Orrox separately endeavour to survive the volcanic winter.

The three main characters require incredible ability, foresight and luck to ensure that at least a few of the species will survive.

Neanderthal Giants abduct Questa and death becomes her only hope of escape from their brutality.

The Clan cave where Anja lives is destroyed, killing everyone. She has to escape from the devastated valley and find other survivors or perish.

Primitive hominids attack the Clans. Their desperate competition for food and water deteriorates into a killing spree and the massacre of the Clans.

Only a secret, technology advanced Clan survives until they too are attacked by Neanderthal Giants.

Although Orrox is wounded during the Primitives' extermination of a Clan, Orrox has to find a warm refuge with enough edible plants to sustain the remnants of the Clans during the volcanic winter.
